Ehud

Ehud means "I shall praise", or "I will give thanks". He is the judge after Othniel and he judged Israel from 2581 FC to 2661 FC (1387 BC – 1307 BC | 80 yrs). He is 3rd judge, the 1st being Joshua the son of Nun.

Ehud is the son of Gera, from the tribe of Benjamin, a lefthanded man who delivered Israel from the Moabites. He defeated Eglon (meaning "calf–like") the king of the Moabites. According to Judges 3:16-26, Ehud went and met the king saying that he has a gift from God, all the while hiding a dagger on his right thigh. When he got near, he thrust it to the king's belly, and escaped through the porch. He had killed the king and escaped without being noticed, leading Israel on the attack to the Moabites.
